HAPPY BIRTHDAY HARRY!
This year we, the world, celebrated 20 years of Harry Potter. I was not prepared for that exact day so instead I decided to celebrate on Harry and J K Rowling’s birthday. And what better way than to celebrate with a High Tea.
When my guest arrived I welcomed them to King Cross Station and had them wait on the couch until everyone arrived. I had Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets on the TV because it’s the best movie ever.
Then I took them outside and welcomed them all to Hogwarts!
The first thing I made my guests do was choose a sorting hat cupcake. Inside the cupcake was coloured M&M’s in their house colour and thus they took their seats.
Each table setting I customized to their house. I painted place-mats, bought coloured plates and tied ribbon around the Butterbeer cups. I also bought a candle as a little gift for my guests to take home with them!
Now on to the menu!
Toffee Macarons designed to look like Harry’s 11th Birthday Cake from Hagrid and Red Velvet Snitch Cake Pops
We also had Mini Treacle Tarts – Harry’s favourite food!
Every high tea has to have a scone of some sort. So I made Pumpkin scones – oh so delicious and as much a part of my childhood as Harry Potter was! My Grandmother used to make these, they’re the best scone you could possibly have on Harry Potter’s birthday.
For the savory foods I kept it pretty simple. I made Pumpkin Pasties and had 2 types of tea sandwiches. The Pumpkin Pasties were the most mouthwatering and delicious part of the high tea. I would gladly eat them everyday!
That is everything I made for the tea, also the Butterbeer which was amazing!
