Book Review: Strungballs By Mike Russell

60 Pages and a Pound of Flesh

I don’t even know where to start.

Okay here are the facts. Strungballs was written by Mike Russell and published by Strange Books. This is important information to have. It’s important because Strungballs is the strangest book I have ever had the pleasure of reading

Strungballs follows the life of Sydney, a 10 year boy who lives in a weird dystopian future. Past? Alternate Reality? Who knows! Although Sydney is 10, this short novella is most definitely not for children. I found myself loudly asking why to anyone who would listen to me – which was no one as I was sitting in a room by myself. I couldn’t wrap my head around anything going on but I don’t think I was necessarily meant to. Regardless I couldn’t put the book down.

The story is completely unpredictable. I thought I had a grip on the reality of Strungballs but as soon as I got comfortable the rug would be pulled out for under me

I have a weird feeling this story would make more sense if I was tripping on acid at the time of consumption.

I’m going to keep this review short and sweet. This story is written very well and although it may not be many people’s cup of tea it certainly was mine.

I don’t want to give out any spoilers because this is an awkwardly amazing confusing story that you just have to read for yourself – just don’t go into it expecting any answers.

This was an honest review given in exchange for book!
